Rushford Residents Flood to New Housing
After a devastating flood wiped out an existing apartment building in Rushford, Blumentals /Architecture was commissioned by SEMCAC to design a new six-unit townhome building on the original site, helping to restore the balance of affordable housing that was desperately needed in the community of Rushford. The result is a building which residents welcomed with open arms, resulting in a waiting list of potential and hopeful tenants while still under construction!
The building was designed to include five two-story units and one accessible single-story unit for those who may have physical disabilities. The building envelope utilizes structural insulated panels (SIPs) for increased energy efficiency, and adds brick and fiber cement siding for enhanced aesthetics and durability. Other design features include energy efficient lighting and water conserving plumbing fixtures, mechanical systems, individual patios and garages, and vaulted ceilings.
