Janis Blumentals, founder of Blumentals/Architecture passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017. As a talented architect, great mentor, and friend to all of us at Blumentals/Architecture, Janis led a very inspiring and dedicated career.
Janis, together with partner in life and profession, Susan Blumentals FAIA, founded Blumentals/Architecture, Inc. in 1976 on the Earle Brown Farm in Brooklyn Center. He had a passion for architecture that was immeasurable and lifelong.
Janis completed his architectural education at the U of M and started his own firm after emigrating from Latvia – a story which we loved to hear and he shared with pride. He was a talented architect, great mentor, and friend to all of us at Blumentals/Architecture. We will miss his smile and his presence in the office and will always remember him as a passionate and talented architect and a true friend. We are grateful for all his contributions to the architectural community and even more grateful for having been a part of his life.
